Features
High Degree of Integration
Reactor, blower and controls are packaged into a single compact SMC or FRP shell, cutting installation to one buried unit.
Low Energy, Low Noise
Installed power runs from 0.025 to 0.075 kW across the size range, with quiet operation suited to residential sites.
Light, Small-Footprint Build
SMC construction keeps unit weight between 180 and 350 kg, easing transport and underground placement in tight plots.
Freely Combinable
Units can be linked together to raise treatment capacity as a site's sewage load grows.
Low Cost Operation
Automated operation and low power draw keep running and maintenance costs down.
Outcomes
High Performance A/O Treatment
Anoxic/oxic biological treatment produces effluent that meets discharge standards without chemical dosing.
Plug-and-Play Installation
Lightweight SMC design allows quick underground installation, even in tight or awkward spaces.
Space-Saving Buried Design
The compact, underground footprint preserves surface landscape and usable land area.
Corrosion-Resistant Build
SMC/FRP materials resist corrosion, supporting long-term durability in decentralized sewage duty.
Solar-Ready Operation
An optional solar panel, MPPT controller and lithium battery kit can run the blower off-grid.
About SmartAox
SmartAox is a packaged moving bed bio reactor built for sites that need a small, buried sewage treatment unit rather than a full civil-construction plant. Raw sewage enters the underground unit through a gravity inlet, passes through anoxic and oxic zones where bacteria growing on moving carrier media break down organic load, and exits through the outlet as treated effluent. The SMC or FRP shell keeps the unit light enough for installation in tight residential or rural plots without heavy machinery.
Applications
- Residential - rural homes, villas, cabins and houses.
- Tourism & Hospitality - small B&Bs, homestays, farmhouses and eco-resorts.
- Public Facilities - toilets in scenic areas, highway rest stations, rural schools.
- Commercial/Industrial - small factories and decentralized office buildings with domestic waste.

Treated Water Reuse
- Landscaping irrigation for gardens and lawns.
- Cleaning for non-potable uses, such as toilet flushing.
- Safe discharge into local rivers without harming the ecosystem.
Process Flow
Raw sewage enters SmartAox as influent carrying BOD 250 mg/l, COD 400 mg/l and SS 200 mg/l. It moves through a fixed sequence of tanks inside the unit, with two internal recirculation loops that push partially treated water back through earlier stages before it is released as effluent at BOD 20 mg/l, COD 80 mg/l and SS 20 mg/l.
.jpg)
- Aerobic Filtration Tank - influent is filtered under aerobic conditions, starting organic breakdown.
- Sedimentation Separation Tank - settleable solids drop out before the stream moves on.
- Anaerobic Filtration Tank - anaerobic bacteria continue breaking down organic load without added aeration.
- Moving Bed Tank - moving carrier media hosts bacterial growth for the core biological treatment stage; also receives the aerobic circulation return from the Treated Water Tank.
- Moving Carrier Filter Tank - filters the stream through carrier media and feeds the circulation transfer line back to the Aerobic Filtration Tank.
- Treated Water Tank - holds treated water and sends part of the flow back to the Moving Bed Tank as aerobic circulation.
- Disinfection Tank - final disinfection stage before the water leaves the unit as effluent.
Two recirculation loops keep the biology stable: a circulation transfer line carries flow from the Moving Carrier Filter Tank back to the Aerobic Filtration Tank, and an aerobic circulation line returns flow from the Treated Water Tank to the Moving Bed Tank. Together they give the reactor more contact time without adding extra tankage.
