SmartSolar: Household Sewage Treatment Plant (STP)

About SmartSolar

SmartSolar is a household-scale sewage treatment plant sized for 5 to 10 people, built around AMBBR plus contact oxidation treatment inside a compact 0.7 x 0.7 x 1.26 m shell weighing 70 kg. The system separates black water and grey water, treats domestic wastewater through its sewage collection and advance processing stages, and routes the resulting clean water for reuse or safe discharge. A micro-aeration fan drawing under 40W keeps power demand low enough to run from a 50W solar panel, making the unit suitable for sites with no grid connection.

Process Flow

Domestic sewage moves through a linear sequence of seven zones inside SmartSolar before it is released for discharge or reuse. An MCU Intelligent Control Box runs on the unit's electric supply, drives the aerobic circulation loop, and pushes air supply into the two biological zones.

1. Domestic Sewage - black water and grey water enter the unit as raw influent.
2. Septic Tank / Catchment Tank - collects and settles the incoming sewage before biological treatment.
3. Filtration Zone - removes coarser solids before the stream enters biological treatment.
4. CASS - a Cyclic Activated Sludge System stage, aerated by air supply from the control box, that carries the main biological load reduction.
5. Contact Oxidation Zone - also air-supplied, this zone continues biological breakdown on fixed media for further polishing.
6. Precipitation Zone - settles remaining biomass out of the treated stream.
7. Filtration & Disinfection Area - a final filtration and disinfection pass before water leaves the unit.
8. Discharge / Reuse - water leaves the unit after meeting discharge standards, ready for irrigation, flushing or safe release.

The MCU Intelligent Control Box sits below the CASS and Contact Oxidation zones, feeding them air supply and managing an aerobic circulation loop on one side while drawing electric supply on the other - the same low-power logic behind SmartSolar's under-40W footprint.
